OIC head: First meeting with Morsi since overthrow held on Friday

Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu has said that two members of Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights met on Friday with Mohamed Morsi, who has been held incommunicado by the army since his overthrow on July 3.

İhsanoğlu provided no further details about the meeting. His statement came on Saturday after Egyptian security forces shot dead at least 70 supporters of Morsi who gathered in a demonstration in Cairo.

Al Jazeera’s Egypt television service reported that more than 120 had been killed and some 4,500 injured in the early morning violence.
