Citizens International views with the gravest concern and condemn in the strongest possible terms the recent unprovoked military aggression perpetrated by the United States and the Israeli regime against the sovereign territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This act of war is a flagrant violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the principles of state sovereignty. Such belligerent actions are not merely an attack on a single nation; they are an assault on the foundational principles of a rules-based international order and a grave threat to regional and global peace.
Our Position is as Follows:
- Unequivocal Condemnation and Support: We vehemently condemn this cowardly and illegal act of aggression. We stand in full solidarity with the government and people of Iran, who have every right to defend their nation, their sovereignty, and their territorial integrity against foreign attackers.
- Appeal to the International Community: We call upon the international community – including the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and all peace-loving nations – to immediately step forward and assist the Islamic Republic of Iran in defending its sovereignty. Silence in the face of such aggression is complicity. The world must unite to uphold the sanctity of international borders and prevent this conflict from spiralling into a wider, catastrophic war.
- Appeal to the American People: We address ourselves directly to the people of the United States. History will not look kindly upon those who wage illegal wars of choice. We call upon you, the American people, to rise up and demand that your government immediately cease its complicity in these hostilities. Use your democratic rights to pressure your leaders to end this illegal war, to stop the flow of weapons used in these attacks, and to choose the path of diplomacy over destruction.
- Call on the Malaysian Government: As a nation committed to peace, justice, and the rights of sovereign states, we call upon the Government of Malaysia to take a leading role in opposing this aggression. We urge the government to:
- Provide diplomatic and humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
- Mobilize international opposition to this illegal war through ASEAN, the OIC, and the United Nations, acting as a powerful voice for the Global South against imperialist aggression.
- Call on the United Nations: We call upon the Secretary-General and the United Nations Security Council to fulfill their Charter-mandated duty. The Security Council must immediately convene an emergency session, unequivocally condemn this act of aggression, and issue a binding resolution demanding that the United States and the Israeli regime cease all hostilities immediately and unconditionally. The credibility of the United Nations hinges on its ability to hold aggressors to account.
We warn the aggressors: the ignition of war in this volatile region will have consequences no one can predict and no one will be able to control. The path of peace, respect, and dialogue is the only viable option.
Stop the war. Respect sovereignty. Choose peace.
