Citizens International strongly condemns the black propaganda generated by the Indonesian police unit Detatchment 88 and publicised in the local media with screaming headlines that the respected Indonesian Ulama Abu Bakar Bashir allegedly helped fund and support an armed terrorist cell in Acheh.
Detachment 88 is the creation of the American and Australian governments which provide funding and training for its officers. Under the guise of fighting terrorism, it is a tool of these foreign governments to persecute Muslims who stand up for the dignity of the Muslims and the sovereignty of the Indonesian nation. In 2002, the world witnessed the massacre of Indian Muslims in the state of Gujarat which left as many as 2,000 Muslims dead. Now, even the dead Muslims in Dahod, Tilakvada and Chandvala are not spared. Centuries-old graveyards in these places are being demolished by the Gujarat State Government for a road project, an office complex and a cattle pasture.
